The command staff is in agreement that such is a high-priority task, and as such funding and personnel has been assigned to researching effective methods of disabling hostile targets in the field.Īlien Incidents Recorded in Report Timeframe: 5 It is believed that further insights into the Aliens will require not just their technology but also live subjects that can be interrogated for information. The details shall be provided to the Council separately.Ī byproduct of this in-depth biological study however is the advent of a way to develop methods to non-lethally incapacitate Alien units. The implications of what they have discovered however are most disconcerting, even when compared to all that we have already discovered and learned since the Invasion began. If the Xenosociology department is correct in their deductions then these are merely workers and engineers pressed by necessity into combat, an actual Alien military unit would be enough to bring nightmares to even the most assured individual in the base.įollowing the return of Charlie-1 the recent replenishment of Sebillian bodies provided to the science team seems to have been the final breakthrough they were waiting for. A private service is scheduled in the coming hours before the transport aircraft arrives.Īlready however I am dreading what combat against more dangerous Alien opponents will mean for our casualty rates. Perhaps, if opened, a door must stay open for a full turn (or two) before it can be closed? The second problem requires some sort of AI script to let aliens know it's a bad idea to open a door when the entire rest of the squad just ran fifty meters down a hallway.Dream Logic: "What the hell is going on over there? I heard shouting and gunfire!"Īdrian Shephard: "Nick bit it, chief. The first problem can be solved by implementing a delay on how often a door can be opened or closed. If the aliens try to open the door, they do so by charging en masse at the doorway, ending their turn two steps inside the room with 0 TUs in reserve. If the aliens camp out during their turn, you get another free round of massed shooting. You can stack your entire landing team up at range, tell one shield dude to open the door, have everyone unload, then tell the same shield guy to close the door when everyone's finished shooting. Interior doors are useful to the Xenonauts currently because the alien AI has no fucking clue how to handle them. I usually either stack up outside the door and send a shield guy to open it at an angle or stack up outside the door and blow it open with C4.
